Yahoo Sued for Spyware, Typosquatting-Based Ads
A class-action lawsuit filed Monday against Yahoo! Inc. and group of unnamed third-parties accuses the company of engaging in “syndication fraud” against advertisers who pay Yahoo to display their ads on search results and on the Web pages of partner Web sites. The suit claims that Yahoo displayed these advertisers’ online ads via spyware and adware products and on so-called “typosquatter” Web sites that capitalize on misspellings of popular trademarks or company names.

Eurid To Run Another Landrush
Domains Eurid rejected under sunrise 1 or 2 are going to be released in a new “landrush†on June 7th. eurid.eu
The list of all the domain names that will be released on this date will be published on EURid website 2 weeks in advance, on May 24. By making the list of released names public beforehand EURid gives any interested parties a fair chance to register them.
It has been suggested that by publishing a list we are helping the cyber squatters. We believe that these people are well aware of the releases anyway by studying the WHOIS database. By publishing a list, EURid wants to give everybody, including those parties who applied for names during Sunrise, a chance to see when the names will become available again. It also allows EURid to be transparent in what is happening with the Sunrise domain names.

GoDaddy: .eu Domain Hijacked
In a scathing blog entry posted on Sunday, GoDaddy.com CEO Bob Parsons attacked European registry EURid for “grand manipulation and lax administration” regarding the recent opening of the .eu top-level domain. Parsons said the process turned into a large scam involving hundreds of fake registrars.
The .eu domain opened on Friday for what was called the “landrush” registration phase. During this period, accredited registrars such as GoDaddy could register domains for their customers using a process similar to standing in line. A registrar could request one domain at a time and then would be shuffled to the end of the line until the other registrars had a turn.

A brief about the Verisign .COM money scam
Stumbled upon a interesting article by BobParsons.com. Highlighting the main points in the domain industry and how it works, the article explains a big scam by Verisign.
….. there are about 48 million .COM domain names. Using historical and current growth rates we expect the .COM registry to exceed 60 million names at the end of 2006. At the current rate of $6.00 per name (this is what all registrars are charged – registrars in turn either discount or mark up this price to arrive at what the registrant is charged) VeriSign will take in $360 million dollars to operate the .COM registry this year……
……That increases VeriSign’s annual cash take from $360 to $450 million dollars………
